Dick Whittington

The orphan Dick Whittington was blessed with nothing more and nothing less than honesty, hard work, sincerity, a sense of honor, and justice. Together with a stroke of luck, it is precisely these character traits that help him become a respected and wealthy young man and a loving husband. And so this charmingly old-fashioned story, in which decency, diligence, and personal effort lead to success and fulfillment in life, retains its appealing and necessary relevance to this day.

Príbeh o Fatime a Omarovi

A television production based on the legend of the well at Trenčín Castle. In the 16th century, the lord of Trenčín Castle was Štefan Zápoľský - Duke of Transylvania, known for his hardness. He built Trenčín Castle as a fortress against the Turks, which, however, could be easily defeated because it had no water. The Turks wanted to take advantage of this fact. Zápoľský, as a good tactician, did not wait for the Turks to attack and attacked their own camp. He won and took a large number of prisoners, including the beautiful Fatima, the wife of Duke Omar. Omar decided to ransom Fatima from captivity. Zápoľský knew only one price - water at Trenčín Castle. Omar undertakes to fulfill the condition and dig a well. He keeps his word and takes Fatima and the other prisoners from Trenčín Castle.

Prince Bayaya

Bayaya, a young peasant, protected by the spirit of his dead mother, arrives at the castle of the King, where he entertains his three daughters. He soon realizes that the three princesses are nagged by evil spirits. The little peasant manages to rid them of them, fights a duel with a wicked lord who wanted to marry one of the three princesses. He finally wins the heart of the youngest sister while saving the soul of his mother who was in purgatory.

Grandpa Planted a Beet

The first Czech cartoon based on a fairy-tale about grandpa, grandma, their granddaughter, dog and cat who all wanted to pull a big beet out from the ground. The picture shows children that a big task can only be fulfilled by joint effort.

A Story of the Forest: Mavka

Mavka, a water nymph, loves Lukash, a country youth. Their brief happiness ends when Lukash is forced to marry the shrewish Kilina. The Spirit of the Forest turns Lukash into a wolf as punishment for his infidelity. The strength of Mavka's love breaks the spell, but Kilina curses the nymph, transforming her into a weeping willow. This beautiful and tragic story is based on a play written in 1912 by Lesya Ukrainka, a Ukrainian poet, writer and political, civil and female activist, and includes mythological characters taken from Ukrainian folklore.

Whom the Gods Wish to Destroy

Siegfried of Xanten snatches the Nibelung treasure from the king of the underworld and slays the dragon Fafnir, whose blood makes him invulnerable. Siegfried falls in love with Kriemhild, the sister of the Burgundian king. But only if Siegfried helps Gunther marry Brunhild will he be allowed to marry Kriemhild. He fulfills this condition, but the two women bring ruin upon Xanten and Burgundy...

A very instructive story about how bragging always turns into big trouble. The plot of the animation unfolds during the wedding celebration of the Fox. The Elephant, imagining that he was the largest, and therefore the strongest, decided that there was no justice for him, and began to behave like he did, while spoiling everyone a feast. But this behavior did not last long, and there was someone to teach the insolent fellow.

The greedy merchant Galsan heard about the wonderful gift of the bird and deceived the chest from Bair.

Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner

Based on a local legend and set in an unknown era, it deals with universal themes of love, possessiveness, family, jealousy and power. Beautifully shot, and acted by Inuit people, it portrays a time when people fought duels by taking turns to punch each other until one was unconscious, made love on the way to the caribou hunt, ate walrus meat and lit their igloos with seal-oil lamps.
