Bulíço Mulíebre

Childhood memories of the author's life using images of dance performances with music from a genre she discovered in her adolescence. Both marked her formative years in different ways. By replacing the original sound with the music she began listening to in her adolescence and which had a great influence on the construction of her personal identity, the author seeks to transform the memory of traumatic times of rivalry and body shaming between girls, which in some way affects her to this day.

Somnambulists

In 1958, graduates of the Film School in Łódź – director Mieczysław Waśkowski and camera operator Adam Nurzyński – produced in cooperation with Tadeusz Kantor the short film Somnambulists. The colourful, painting-like moving image was an attempt at transferring the informel onto film stock.

déjà vu

A young woman searches for traces of herself through a prehistoric monument engulfed by the urban landscape. Driven by a persistent feeling of déjà vu, she returns to the place where she grew up, repeating gestures of observation, collecting and photographic development in an attempt to recover a memory that may never have existed. Between ritual, the analogue darkroom and fragments of the landscape, she builds an intimate archive where memory, imagination and reality become intertwined.

Pictures for Charis

In Pictures for Charis, American photographer Kelli Connell reconsiders the relationship between writer Charis (pronounced CARE-iss) Wilson and photographer Edward Weston through a close examination of Wilson’s prose and Weston’s iconic photographs of the Western landscape and the female nude. Connell weaves together the stories of Wilson and Weston with that of her own relationship with her partner at the time, Betsy Odom, enriching our understanding of the couple from her contemporary queer and feminist perspective. Using Weston and Wilson publications as a guide, Connell and Odom created portrait and landscape photographs at sites where Wilson and Weston lived, made art, and spent time together. - Cleveland Museum of Art

HCS has been many things: a skatepark, gallery, library, museum, and stage; but, for one weekend, Derek Nelson fabricator, activist, BMX pro, and artist, transformed his skatepark into an immersive sonic installation—part instrument, part playground—for the community of Binghamton, NY to become co‑creators in a conflagration of sound.
