Captain Thunder

A notorious Mexican bandit goes all soft and mushy when he falls for a beautiful senorita. Warner Bros.' Captain Thunder contains some of the darndest Mexican accents you've ever heard in your life. The star is Hungarian-born Victor Varconi, portraying a legendary south of the border outlaw who tries to force Canadian senorita Fay Wray to marry a rival rustler whom she despises. She pleads with the bandito so pathetically that he is moved to grant her a single wish. Without hesitation she chooses her poor but true love. The bandit king, being a somewhat honorable fellow grants the wish and without a twitch, guns down the wicked cattle thief. Fortunately the film was played for comedy, a wise decision since it probably would have garnered laughs as a straight drama anyway.

Mission Air

Mother and son, Diane and Michael Ireland have just completed another successful medial mission trip to Mexico. Caring for children, delivering supplies, and of course Michael's cherished time with Marisol, the love of his life. The plane arrives to take them home to Mission Air, their home in Texas, when a group of bandits attack in an effort to steal the plane. The bandits now formulate a plan to kidnap the Ireland's daughter and the crew must risk everything to save Sophie. There is a skirmish that ensues and the Irelands must rely on being protected by the armor of God in an effort to bring Sophie home. This film is one of the most popular pictures of Slovak cinema and relates the story about the legendary folk hero and brigand Juro Jánošík [1688-1713] and the social situation in Slovakia of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The first part talks about Jánošík's childhood, studies and return to his native village. In the second part Jánošík leaves for the hills, where he organizes his band of brigands and starts an anti-feudal resistance. The film concludes with Jánošík's execution.
