The Trees with Orange Rings

Conservationist photographer and filmmaker Kyle Dudgeon, with the help of wildlife biologist Steve Hoffman, follows a family of great gray owls in the Bridger Mountains of Montana whose habitat is threatened by a logging project. The first feature film of this longtime bird photographer, The Trees with Orange Rings is a passionate documentary short profiling the natural history of these owls and confronting important environmental issues over the span of two years.

The Suppliant

Filmed in 2003 while staying in a Brooklyn Heights apartment, the work centers on a small Greek statue revealed in shifting morning and afternoon light. Beavers weaves these images with views of the East River and Manhattan Bridge, later completing the film in 2010 as a meditative elegy for his friend Jacques Dehornois.

The Lonely Wanderer

A documentary that follows the journey of a young man named Kristian, who suffers from anxiety and a fear of flying, as he attempts to overcome his fears and travel to Tokyo, Japan. The film captures the raw emotions and experiences of Kristian including the challenges he faces along the way.

A day in the city of Berlin, which experienced an industrial boom in the 1920s, and still provides an insight into the living and working conditions at that time. Germany had just recovered a little from the worst consequences of the First World War, the great economic crisis was still a few years away and Hitler was not yet an issue at the time.

60 Seconds of Solitude in Year Zero

An anthology of one-minute films created by 51 international filmmakers on the theme of the death of cinema. Intended as an ode to 35mm, the film was screened one time only on a purpose-built 20x12 meter public cinema screen in the Port of Tallinn, Estonia, on 22 December 2011. A special projector was constructed for the event which allowed the actual filmstrip to be burnt at the same time as the film was shown.

"In continuo" uses slaughterhouse imagery to present the warlike nature of man, first depicting the cleaning and mechanical preparations for the slaughterhouse and then the killing, however, the animal slaughter itself isn’t shown.

Taking inspiration from supernatural, sci-fi 90s classic films and monsters through the mind of a 10 year old in 1985, guided by the words of his 43 year old self in 2023. We explore how an 'odd one out' kid, feeling the pressure and disregard of society can become a pioneer for prosthetics and animatronics across Australia and Hollywood.

Just as the Grateful Dead did not fit their music into an established category, this short film finds a cast of some of the world’s best athletes on a spontaneous journey of skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and music, complete with a soundtrack comprised of only Grateful Dead music.

Age 12: Love with a Little L

This film is depicts early lesbian sexuality, using reenacted scenes from the experience of a 12-year old girl as the platform for a meditation on forbidden desire, transgression, and Lacanian psychoanalytic concepts of identity formation. Raw adolescent memories counterpoint staged scenes, exploring mechanisms of power and submission.

A documentary that follows the recording process over three days and nights of "(I'll Love You) Till the End of the World" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A new version of the documentary appeared in 2005, and on the 2019 Criterion release of Wim Wenders' film UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD.
