Theo Maassen: Tegen beter weten in

Maassen won two of the biggest comedy contests in the Netherlands in 1990, the Groninger Studenten Cabaret Festival(GSCF), and Cameretten. The GSCF jury was not pleased with the quality of the contestants that year, and gave Maassen the first prize, remarking he was the best of the year, but still not very good. In the following years, however, Maassen fame grew steadily, especially amongst students. Maassens style was based on stand-up comedy: Alone on stage, telling jokes and stories to amuse the public, without any musical support (a thing common for most Dutch comedians up to that point). Since 2000, Maassens shows are shown on Dutch national television, making him more and more a household name.

People

People is a film shot behind closed doors in a workshop/house on the outskirts of Paris and features a dozen characters. It is based on an interweaving of scenes of moaning and sex. The house is the characters' common space, but the question of ownership is distended, they don't all inhabit it in the same way. As the sequences progress, we don't find the same characters but the same interdependent relationships. Through the alternation between lament and sexuality, physical and verbal communication are put on the same level. The film then deconstructs, through its repetitive structure, our relational myths.

Dhanraj tells this to Ajit Roy(Om Shivpuri), his partner, who has plans of his own. However, circumstances make Dharamdas change his mind and he decides to cancel this deal. Dhanraj doesn't want this deal be cancelled and hence bribes Dharamdas's trusted employees into killing him. The quartet corner Dharamdas in a train and kill him after they get his sign over some crucial papers. They dispose off the dead body, making people think that Dharamdas has gone missing. But when the matter cools down, the villains start dying under mysterious circumstances. The investigation is handed over to the police. But is the killer a human, or has Dharamdas returned to exact his revenge?

Another primary match was an interpromotional match between The Undertaker versus Randy Orton. The featured matches on the undercard were Kurt Angle versus Shawn Michaels and a Money in the Bank ladder match. The event also featured the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin who started his part-time appearances with WWE at this event. The event drew a Staples Center record attendance of 20,193 people and grossed more than $2.1 million in ticket sales.
