In 2016, four mummies of the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid left their showcases headed to a well-known hospital in the capital of Spain. The objective: to study them with the most advanced radiological technology in the world. However, no one could imagine that, under the bandages of the so-called Golden Mummy, there would be a secret with more than two thousand years old. A hieroglyphic enigma that hid the identity of one of the best preserved Egyptian mummies in the world.
The grail is not the gold, nor the books of ancient wisdom, but the 3,000 year old DNA of the mummies, which may lead to a cure for malaria.
Between the end of the Second World War and the abolition of the "offence of homosexuality" in 1982, 10,000 sentences were handed down in France. The Kabul National Museum, once known as the "face of Afghanistan," was destroyed in 1993. We filmed the most important cultural treasures of the still-intact museum in 1988: ancient Greco-Roman art and antiquitied of Hellenistic civilization, as well as Buddhist sculpture that was said to have mythology--the art of Gandhara, Bamiyan, and Shotorak among them. After the fall of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in 1992, some seventy percent of the contents of the museum was destroyed, stolen, or smuggled overseas to Japan and other countries. The movement to return these items is also touched upon. The footage in this video represents that only film documentation of the Kabul Museum ever made.
