Payback (2017) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network event, produced by WWE for the Raw brand. It will take place on April 30, 2017 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It will be the fifth event in the Payback chronology.

Payback (2014) took place on June 1, 2014 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. It was the second event under the Payback chronology, with the event having originated in 2013. There were two main events, with the first main event featuring John Cena versus Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing Match. The second match faced Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista) against The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose) in a No Holds Barred six-man tag team elimination match. Other matches included Bad News Barrett defending the IC Title against RVD, the debut of Bo Dallas against Kofi Kingston, Big E vs Rusev, Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs Rybaxel, and Cesaro defending the US Title against Sheamus.
The Japanese extreme wrestling league, the FMW, is truly wrestling at its hardest. Aside from his interest in wrestling for its own sake, Bilal has a chance to win a provincial wrestling contest and thereby bring home a considerable cash award for his efforts -- and so his days are spent in training for the event. Meanwhile, his brother and sister-in-law and their daughter have come back home after living in Germany for 12 years and are finding the adjustment to their cultural roots a bumpy ride. As long scenes of well-oiled and slippery wrestlers in action prepare viewers for Bilal's big event, the struggle of these men is reminiscent of the struggle of Bilal's family to come to grips with a world they may not be able to accept unconditionally.
