Ten-year-old Bloem is completely crazy about Sinterklaas' horse. After several attempts, she finally convinces Sinterklaas to let her ride his horse, but then something terrible happens. During a ride outside the castle, Amerigo loses his magic horseshoe. Sinterklaas' horse does not have normal horseshoes, but one golden horseshoe. Without this magical horseshoe, Amerigo cannot climb onto the roofs. Sinterklaas does not want to worry his helpers and starts a search together with Bloem. Will they find the horseshoe in time, or will this year's gift-giving evening have to be canceled?

When Tikkelotje notices Ramon - the faithful companion to Saint Nicholas - playing the guitar and singing, she decides to kidnap both him and Slechtweervandaag, Saint Nicholas’s trusty steed. Saint Nicholas is devastated, but eventually he pulls himself together and goes around the houses to collect the children’s wishlists. An adventure involving assorted people then ensues as he tried to beat the clock to rescue the hapless pair.

The poor Petes are always chased by the police when they try to deliver the presents to the children. One by one they end up in prison. When Sinterklaas is busy solving the problem of the Petes, he is kidnapped by the mean Dr. Brein and her accomplices Joris and Boris. Meanwhile, Pieta and Mrs. Dakjes try to teach a couple of Petes the petebusiness. There they are also harassed by Michiel, who wants to have an interview with Sinterklaas for the school newspaper. Giftnight is approaching and for the Petes and Sinterklaas it will be a race against time to find a solution and save Giftnight.
