Roaring Across the Horizon

After the Korean War, General Feng Shi leads a heroic army into the Gobi Desert on a mission from the Central Committee. At the same time, scientist Lu Guangda returns from the U.S. and says goodbye to his wife. As talented individuals from scientific institutions join the effort, they face harsh conditions—scarce resources, outdated technology, and frequent natural disasters—but work together toward a common goal.

People

People is a film shot behind closed doors in a workshop/house on the outskirts of Paris and features a dozen characters. It is based on an interweaving of scenes of moaning and sex. The house is the characters' common space, but the question of ownership is distended, they don't all inhabit it in the same way. As the sequences progress, we don't find the same characters but the same interdependent relationships. Through the alternation between lament and sexuality, physical and verbal communication are put on the same level. The film then deconstructs, through its repetitive structure, our relational myths.

Zen for Film

In an endless loop, unexposed film runs through the projector. The resulting projected image shows a surface illuminated by a bright light, occasionally altered by the appearance of scratches and dust particles in the surface of the damaged film material. This a film which depicts only its own material qualities; An "anti-film", meant to encourage viewers to focus on the lack of concrete images.

This Song for Jack

In 1982, Robert Frank was on hand at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, to film the Jack Kerouac Conference, a 25th-anniversary commemoration of On the Road in which poignantly aging Beats and fellow-traveling authors, activists, and composers (Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Michael McClure, Herbert Huncke, Anne Waldman, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Ken Kesey, Abbie Hoffman, David Amram) gathered on a rain-swept Chautauqua porch to recite poetry and raise a glass to their patron saint. Particularly memorable is Frank’s humorous encounter with a group of grizzled and well-lubricated onlookers. — Museum of Modern Art

Sabit Kanca's landlord, Uncle Rıfat, wants to marry Rencide Posuk, whom he saw on television. However, Rencide does not like Uncle Rıfat when they first meet. It is up to Kanca to reconcile them, and he is forced to do so because of his accumulated rent debts. While Kanca is trying to resolve the situation, Turabi, the ex-boyfriend of Rencide's daughter Zeliş, also gets involved. When Turabi kidnaps Rencide to marry Zeliş, whom he is obsessively in love with, the situation escalates. Of course, it is Sabit Kanca's responsibility to resolve the situation.
