These films, which have boosted the film industry, started out with "Jaws" and "Star Wars" and are still prospering with Avatar or Alice in Wonderland. To succeed, the films must meet a few precise criteria, one of them being their cost - at 100 million dollars minimum. But in Hollywood, the films' ingredients are a well-kept secret; perhaps for fear of discovering that the studios' house rules are not as rosy as in certain fruitful happy endings? After 18 months of preparation, one of the greatest escapes of the war took place. Their aim to distract the enemy succeeded, as it was estimated that five million Germans were deployed to recapture the 76 escapees. Packages is the debut project from first-time writer / director Nick Barat. Described as a “nightmare comedy” and “Franz Kafka with an Amazon Prime account,” this short film is the latest creative evolution for Nick, who has spent two decades in culture as a DJ and producer, graphic designer, co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records and editor at The FADER Magazine. “With my background, it would have been obvious to start with a film about ‘music,’ but Packages is still very much my sensibility, my rhythm and the way I see the world. It’s an exploration of dream logic and visual storytelling – stylized, surreal and satirical, mashing up genres while cracking some jokes in the process.” Packages is currently submitting to film festivals for a premier in 2026.

The Man Who Shot New York

The life and work of American photographer Harold Feinstein, whose work garnered critical and commercial success. In his 2015 obituary the New York Times declared him “one of the most accomplished recorders of the American experience.” Howard Greenberg says Feinstein “ occupies high ground in the pantheon of street photography” yet, most people, have never heard of him. A prodigious talent, Feinstein photographed life in all its forms, when and where he wished. Whether this was as a draftee in the Korean War, in a Bebop infused Manhattan loft or rural hippy enclave in upstate NY, Harold’s 35mm black and white photographs captured the essence of life with a with a uniquely humanist eye. The re-discovery of Feinstein’s vast and diverse body of work came in his final years and the film meets him then; in his early 80s and with a zen-like appreciation for the life he lived.
