In 17th century Finland young Arvid is forced to marry Brita but their ways soon part when their respective fathers move to different places. Years roll by and Arvid grows up into a handsome and respected Thirty Years' War veteran known for his excellent fencing skills. However, he has fallen madly in love with a local maiden who does not reciprocate his advances, not to mention that his forced marriage to Brita is still valid.

People in the Summer Night

A story set over one night in a small rural community we watch various relationships and actions among local people; these include birth, death, and conflicts fuelled by alcohol. The fates of various characters become interlaced over a long and light-filled summer night in the Finnish countryside. Lumberjacks, a deer-eyed young man Nokia, a family of poor farmers, a young girl and her lover. New life is born, old life dies, man is slain in his prime, and his widow continues her life.

Koshtana

TV adaptation of the Bora Stankovic drama, the most staged play in the history of Serbian theatre. Set in the southern Serbian town of Vranje, it is a tragedy about a Gypsy singing girl destined to marry but not for love. The old man Mitke loves her beauty and singing, but doesn't love her as a woman. Her talent and free spirit reminds him of his youth, young age and all he had to sacrifice for loveless marriage and unhappiness in order to fit into conventions.

A psychologist is writing a book about the character and incident. Her research for the subject matter turn the psychologist inward and things come out of the shadows that perhaps are better left buried deep in the shadows of the psyche.

The author attempted to analyze the disintegration of the Slovak Army before the outbreak of the SNP and showed how the conditions grew for the army to join the Uprising. Through the characters of soldiers and officers of a small unit of the Slovak Army, deployed away from the events of the war, the play captures the suffocating atmosphere of expectation that existed just before the outbreak of the SNP.

Sázka na třináctku

A mail truck is robbed near the small town of Kostelec, during which the perpetrators steal CZK 2.5 million. The local police fail to solve the case. After some time, a young and capable lieutenant Charvát arrives from the Prague CID. While he is getting acquainted with the circumstances of the case and the evidence found, he makes friends with the handsome Květa, the daughter of the hostel manager Weisse. The complicated relationship that develops between the two lovers is in no way comparable to the complexity of the criminal case that brought Charvat to Kostelec. Things get even more complicated when someone murders Malásek, a local brawler and drunkard, with a shotgun. He is actually Květa's husband. And his death, according to Charvat, is connected to the mail robbery...

Harvest

Walt is a farmer living in a tiny rural village in Scotland. A former townsman, he is a rare outsider in an intensely xenophobic community, but has managed to slowly integrate, aided by a childhood friendship with bumbling Master Kent, who rules the village with inept benevolence. Since anyone can remember, the villagers have lived humbly but sustainably, hard seasons working the fields punctuated by cathartic drunken feasts. This relative contentment is shattered, however, by the arrival of a series of strangers – a map-maker commissioned to chart the land; three migrants fleeing a crisis; and an aristocratic company man determined to improve the efficiency of Kent's operations. The villagers respond to these arrivals with violence, the escalating consequences of which soon threaten their community's very existence.

Stopy na Sitne

Slovak partisans, bravely fighting against Nazi superiority, would never have succeeded to such an extent if they had not been supported by the villagers. Despite the threat of repression, it is the villagers who care for the wounded, hide them, and behave conscientiously. Although the film was made in the late 1960s, it fully adopts the patterns of partisan stories, perhaps the only thing it can be credited with is a more developed sense of authenticity in the story, characters, and setting.
