Thirty years ago, a rubber company enslaved a group of Asháninka people, manipulating them into tapping the trees in the lush borderland between Peru and Brazil. The company was expelled by a coalition of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, led by one mixed race couple. Now the adult children of this marriage combat political corruption and ongoing environmental disaster.

Train leaves two towns

In Ecuador, in a single day, the train passes from the mountainous Andes to the tropical coast. The roads were built between 1861 and 1908 to connect the country. Until this date, the two regions live as separate countries, although the roads connect them in less than a day. The film is an observational work that talks about space and collective memory.

Hidden Eden

Exploring the concept of the Ecology of Emotions, this musical film portrays an inner journey through the secret garden of creativity put into frame by the nature of Iceland. Hidden Eden is a metaphor for our inner secret garden of creativity. This project bloomed during an art residency in Iceland, sparked by conversations around our shared philosophies on voice and emotional connection. The nature of Iceland inspired us to make the connection on how the landscape reflects the emotional states of creativity and how it helps manage the homeostasis of our inner emotional landscapes. This exchange between emotion and the landscape opens a space for healing. Creativity provides us with the tools to access a garden of our authentic being, nourishing and balancing us. Allowing ourselves to explore the spectrum of our emotions through the lens of our relationship with the Earth invites others to do the same. The creative process can affect our well being and is a key to human evolution.

ECO/FEMINISM

ECO/FEMINISM is an essay film that explores the philosophical theory, ‘ecofeminism’. The idea combines feminism and environmentalism and argues that the oppression of women and the degradation of the environment are interconnected and result from patriarchy and capitalism. This film imagines what a radical restructuring of systems, from patriarchy to matriarchy may look like, and dives into the historical roots of ecofeminism and how it is manifesting currently in climate activism.

Eighth Hill - A Sacred Revolution: Tirupati's Dream without Plastic

Deep in the sacred Tirumala Hills, where millions walk in devotion, one man walks with a different purpose. This documentary introduces Shivaji Paleti - an unsung hero who has dedicated his life to protect the hills from plastic pollution. With bare hands and endless patience, he cleans, he preserves, and he teaches what true devotion towards Mother Earth means. His perseverance never faded away despite numerous hardships. A true modern-day warrior who led the "Plastic Free Tirupati" movement with an example, turning personal conviction into a collective awakening. The "Eighth Hill" stands as a reflection of our own atrocities. An unsettling mirror showing how what we dismiss as a single piece of trash can grow into a mountain of consequence. Through Shivaji’s story, this film explores not just environmental preservation, but the deeper meaning of responsibility, faith, and humanity’s bond with nature.

First Daughter and the Black Snake

The “Prophecy of the 7th Fire” says a “black snake” will bring destruction to the earth. For Winona LaDuke, the “black snake” is oil trains and pipelines. When she learns that Canadian-owned Enbridge plans to route a new pipeline through her tribe’s 1855 Treaty land, she and her community spring into action to save the sacred wild rice lakes and preserve their traditional indigenous way of life. Launching an annual spiritual horse ride along the proposed pipeline route, speaking at community meetings and regulatory hearings. Winona testifies that the pipeline route follows one of historical and present-day trauma. The tribe participates in the pipeline permitting process, asserting their treaty rights to protect their natural resources. LaDuke joins with her tribe and others to demand that the pipelines’ impact on tribal people’s resources be considered in the permitting process.
