Budgie the Little Helicopter

Budgie the Little Helicopter is a series of children's books and animated television series relating to a fictional character 'Budgie' and his friends. The characters were based on the books by Sarah, Duchess of York, who was influenced by her flight training in the Royal Navy. The show was produced by Fred Wolf Films Dublin for HTV and Sleepy Kids Company, and originally aired on British television in 1994 on CITV, then, was aired later on in the United States of America on Fox Kids. The TV Show ran for 39 episodes, and a range of videos, books, and toys were released under the 'Budgie' label. Budgie the Little Helicopter merchandise is now quite rare. On release of the first book, the Duchess was forced to deny she had copied the idea for the series from the earlier Hector the Helicopter book by A.W. Baldwin. The voice of Budgie was originally performed by Richard Pearce.

The format is of an internet scavenger hunt that is offering chances to win $US50,000, $100,000 and $1,000,000. Gold Rush consists of 13 rounds of game play. In order to qualify for a chance to win, participants will have to correctly complete a series of tasks on AOL.com’s Gold Rush hub in order to stockpile virtual gold bars. Many of these tasks will consist of pop culture trivia challenges. Clues to help solve each of the challenges will be found in CBS Television programs and commercials, magazines, radio, song lyrics, and on AOL. In each round, the first three players who complete the challenges and collect 12 virtual gold bars will be taken to a location somewhere in the United States where they will compete on-camera in a head-to-head, reality-style competition for a chance to win $100,000 in gold. In the Finale Round of Gold Rush, the 12 previous $100,000 winners return, joined by 6 new contestants, to vie for the $1 million grand prize. Various companies have all signed on as partners of Gold Rush. Each company’s brand will be integrated into various parts of Gold Rush, including game clues and challenges throughout the game.

Acropolis Now

Acropolis Now was an Australian sitcom set in a Greek cafe in Melbourne of the same name that ran for 63 episodes from 1989 to 1992 on the Seven Network. It was created by Nick Giannopoulos, George Kapiniaris and Simon Palomares, who also starred in the series. They were already quite well known for their comedy stage show, Wogs out of Work. The title is a play on the film Apocalypse Now. Each episode was 30 minutes in length and filmed in front of a live audience. Jim's father asks him to run the family business, the Acropolis café, when he suddenly leaves Australia to return to his homeland Greece. The series centres around the activities of the cafe staff. Greek Jim Stephanidis, is the immature owner and his best friend, Spaniard Ricky Martinez is the sensible manager. Memo is the traditional Greek waiter, Liz is the liberated Australian waitress. Skip is the naïve new cook from the bush and Manolis is the stubborn cook from the old cafe. 'Hilarity' prevails from the clash of cultures and beliefs. Jim's hairdresser cousin Effie, played by Mary Coustas, became a hugely popular and enduring character during the run of the show. Coustas later reprised the role for several TV specials and series including Effie, Just Quietly, an SBS comedy / interview show, and Greeks on the Roof, a short-lived Greek-Australian version of the British talk show The Kumars at No. 42.
