The Woodwright's Shop is a traditional woodworking show hosted by Roy Underhill on the Public Broadcasting Service in the United States. It is one of the longest running "how to" shows on PBS. Since its debut in 1979, the show has aired over 400 episodes. The first two seasons were broadcast only on public TV in North Carolina; the season numbering was restarted when the show went national in 1981. It is still filmed at the UNC-TV studios in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

The Renovators

The Renovators is an Australian competitive reality renovation game show that premiered on Network Ten on 24 July 2011. The basic premise consists of 26 contestants who initially compete to become the head renovator of six run-down houses in the suburbs of Sydney, with challenges and eliminations taking place whilst the renovations are in progress. The last remaining contestant responsible for the property that has made the most profit when sold at auction wins the series. Network Ten announced in August 2011 that it had commissioned a second season of the series, but indicated that it would modify the program's format in order to address poor ratings, but to date no second season has been produced.

The object of the show is to take a dilapidated house and completely do it up into a "dream" house. The show claims to "bring together everything you need to know about creating your own dream home under one roof - expert advice, step-by-step DIY guides, tricks of the trade". A step-by-step guide to creating the perfect home, in which a 1950's run-down three-bedroom house in Bexley, Kent is renovated from scratch. The show has a central presenter in Andrea McLean, and a series of experts who offer step-by-step advice and insider knowledge on DIY.

Doctor Who Confidential is a documentary to complement the revival of the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The show is hosted by carpenter and veteran television personality Ty Pennington. Each episode features a family that has faced some sort of recent or ongoing hardship such as a natural disaster or a family member with a life-threatening illness, in need of new hope. The show's producers coordinate with a local construction contractor, which then coordinates with various companies in the building trades for a makeover of the family's home. This includes interior, exterior and landscaping, performed in seven days while the family is on vacation and documented in the episode. If the house is beyond repair, they replace it entirely.
