100 Miles From Nowhere

From the producers of Naked and Afraid comes 100 Miles From Nowhere, an Animal Planet series that follows adventurer Matt Galland and his two best buddies, Danny Bryson and Blake Josephson. In each episode, the trio of fun-loving regular guys chooses remote, extreme locations throughout the globe where cameras – let alone people – rarely have gone. Matt, Danny and Blake’s mission is straightforward: to get off life’s usual humdrum path for a more exciting, daring and off-the-beaten one. In just three or four days, the guys trek approximately 100 miles and burn up to 10,000 calories on foot, raft, skis and even skateboard while they document and shoot their own escapades with absolutely no crew. Every single second on the ground is self-shot. Each expedition causes major wear and tear on their bodies, so the guys must reach their bear box drops, which are pre-arranged at set points to replenish their supplies, strength and stamina. They push their endurance to the limit and sometimes even their friendship. A childhood dream is fulfilled when he walks out onto the pitch of the Melbourne Cricket Ground during an Aussie Rules game - and trumped the following morning when his balloon flies through the ground's goalposts. His balloon truck gets a makeover and the city's Greek festival nearly ends in a diplomatic incident. Then heavy rain prevents him flying over Canberra - and to get back on track he risks a flight to 10,000 feet. Actor Stephen Tompkinson's attempt to win Australia's prestigious Canowindra Balloon Challenge concludes in this final episode. Stephen heads to Sydney, where he samples some of the city's culinary delights with MasterChef's Matt Preston, helps judge a drag competition, and receives some encouragement from the British High Commissioner to Australia. When the day of the race finally arrives, he meets his competitors at Canowindra. The teams have to hit three targets laid out over the countryside, but things start disastrously for Stephen when he misreads the wind and drifts off-course. Can he recover and win the challenge?

Shootout

Shootout, also known as Sunday Morning Shootout, is a talk and interview program produced by the cable television network AMC. The episodes first aired on AMC on Sunday mornings, before being rerun and syndicated to other networks. The show debuted on October 12, 2003. It was hosted by Peter Bart and Peter Guber. Each half-hour episode usually had two segments; one in which Guber and Bart discussed various topics in the film industry, and one where they jointly interviewed that week's guest. On December 16, 2008, Bart wrote in his blog on the Variety website that Shootout "will now migrate to a different time and different neighborhood." The show's last episode at its customary timeslot was December 21, 2008. Bart and Guber, returned to AMC on February 13, 2009 with Storymakers, which was similar to Shootout, but airing in primetime, albeit infrequently. In 2010, Bart and Guber co-hosted In The House, a similar interview series airing on Encore.
