Throughout its run, Living Single became one of the most popular African-American sitcoms of its era, ranking among the top five in African-American ratings in all five seasons. In contrast to the popularity of NBC's "Must See TV" on Thursday nights in the 1990s, many African American and Latino viewers flocked to Fox's Thursday night line-up of Martin, Living Single, and New York Undercover. Team Antonsen was a Norwegian sketch comedy television program which was shown on TV in spring 2004 on the Norwegian state channel NRK. The show consisted of four well-known comedians: Atle Antonsen, Harald Eia, Bård Tufte Johansen and Kristopher Schau performing various sketches. The show typically made fun of spoken nynorsk and sami, as well as regional dialects from all over Norway—most commonly from Northern Norway and the cities of Bergen and Trondheim. Celebrities often appeared on the show—among others famous writer Anne Holt and accomplished singer Bertine Zetlitz. Team Antonsen had an average viewer-rating of over 700 000 viewers, a high figure for a late-night TV show in a country with 4.6 million people. The show also spawned a stage comedy show called Team Antonsen Live: One Night Only, which was performed in Oslo Spektrum in May 2004. The comedians originally only planned one showing, but when tickets sold out they decided on performing one more, called Team Antonsen Live: One More Night Only. The series won several Norwegian comedy awards, most notably the 2004 Gullruten for best humor show, Komiprisen for best show, as well as Komiprisen viewer's award for their sketch Hjemme hos Haakon Børde.

The Search for the Funniest Mom in America, or simply Funniest Mom, is a six-part reality series that features a competition between ten female comedians who compete for $50,000, the opportunity to develop her own show for Nick at Nite and host a special night of programming on the network. As of season three however the winner is no longer given the opportunity to develop their own show, and no television series starring any of the winners has made it to air. The first season ran during spring 2005, with stand-up comedian and actress Sandra Bernhard serving as the host. The first season aired in five episodes, with Darlene Westgor being the winner. The second season aired during spring 2006, with actress Katey Sagal replacing Bernhard as the host. The second season, which aired in six episodes, announced Rubi Nicholas, a Muslim mother with two children, as the funniest mom in America. A third season, simply called "Funniest Mom in America 3" began airing on April 3, 2007. Like season two, season three has six parts. It was announced on January 11, 2007, that Roseanne Barr would serve as the host for season three. Season 3 ended on Mothers Day 2007.
